Law of Attraction

I was at the checkout after shopping for groceries the other day.
This was a major store.
One of the biggest chains.
I won’t mention the name of the store, but I will tell you I was impressed by what I heard.
The cashier asked me “would you like to give 1 dollar to the Childrens Hospital?”
I said “I don’t think so” not in a Scrooge sort of way, but thinking “I can’t give money to everyone who asks, what will I be left with?”
I don’t clench my fists every time someone asks for money, sometimes I’ll even give some money to a begging bum.
I’ll tell you my heart goes out to the homeless bums sometimes.
The stories they come up with are really moving. Who knows if they are true or not?
Little known to them they are some of the best salesman in the world, and I wonder, if that idea could get through to them how their lives could be different?
Unfortunately they are selling to survive when they could be selling to thrive.
All it would take is a little adjustment in their attitudes and perspective.
It’s easier for most people to ask for money than perspective, sadly the thing that will change a person is not just a little chump change but a shift in perspective.
As I stood there while she rang up over $100 worth of fresh produce and high quality health food (that’s what I try to eat) I began to think about what that dollar would mean, who it would go to, and how it could really help.
The first thing that struck me was that this money was going to kids. Kids don’t have a whole lot of power over the kind of financial support they can receive unless they are from a wealthy family.
I started to think about my 2 little girls, and if things were different, who would take care of them?
Something happened, my heart opened up and the urge to give poured out.
I’m a big believer that giving more will allow you to receive more. I don’t always show it, but I know it’s the Truth.
I didn’t just give a dollar.
The Cashier told me that I could write a name on it, I suppose she meant my own, so I could be proud of myself. I don’t care about the pride. My main concern is that the money goes to the right place.
So instead of putting my own name on the Children’s Hospital Hot Air Balloon Paper, I wrote out both of my daughters names and was grateful to have such healthy, happy little girls.
It was a great feeling to give and it’s something I will continue to practice as I am blessed with a beautiful home, family, a crazy dog and a lake in my backyard.
As entrepreneurs we need to circulate the goodness of life, whether it be money to help others, inspiration, motivation, specialized training, a life-enhancing product, entertainment, or anything else that gives life that little extra pizzaz.
Let’s celebrate today and everyday by giving all we can.
Good karma/bad karma, what goes around comes around. Give before you receive. Life always has a magical way of balancing the check book of what we get and give. We always end up being paid appropriately.
If I hadn’t given that little bit extra I would probably be feeling a little regret right now.
Honestly, what would that little 2 dollars mean to me?
No even a tank of gas.
But the strange thing is there are always universal laws of attraction at work, and although I can’t explain it, giving seems to open up a door in your heart or mind that makes for more room to receive.
…and I guess that’s the big secret
